CLIB, the Cluster Industrial Biotechnology, is an internationally active open innovation cluster of large companies, SMEs, investors, academic institutes and other stakeholders active in biotechnology and the circular bioeconomy. CLIB is set up as an association and comprises over 110 organizations, with a core in Germany and around 25% international members.

CLIB's mission is to provide added value to all members and stakeholders through work in six strategic pillars based on industrial biotechnology. The members of the cluster work together across disciplines, sectors, regions and nations to create sustainable products and processes.

The six strategic pillars bring together all the necessary aspects to promote the establishment of a sustainable circular bioeconomy:
•    Networking & Partnering
•    Improving Framework Conditions
•    Accelerating Tech Development
•    Facilitating Scale-Up
•    Developing Bioeconomists
•    Fostering Entrepreneurship.

CLIB is active in a variety of projects at the state, national and European levels to develop activities within the strategic pillars, expand the network and create innovation opportunities for its members.
